A little about me:
Hi, I’m Rachel —
I have always loved beautiful things. A matching skirt and crop top, a cute café, the way sunlight streams into a room, an intentionally designed event, the bold shoulder of a blazer, gold jewelry - I could go on and on. This love of self-expression through style started when I was a teen, performing in elaborate costumes for dance concerts and musical theater shows, and dressing up for high school as if the hallways were my own made-up runways. I always knew I wanted to work in the fashion industry but the realization that I could came later.
After graduating from Boston University and a short stint working in Human Resources, I decided to travel to Australia and there I found my love for styling. I worked in local boutiques in Far North Queensland and learned everything I could about customer service, visual merchandising, marketing, buying and how to run a store. I styled local fashion shows and store photo shoots and soaked up every ounce of Australian fashion influence for the three years I lived there.
When I returned to the States, I attended the School of Style in New York City to further my knowledge. I started personal styling and worked for an online styling platform called Keaton Row where I grew my skills in translating a traditionally in-person connection to a digital experience. I mentored a team of stylists and really enjoyed the opportunity to connect and guide others. From there I grew my client base and began my journey into the world of luxury retail.
Working for Saks Fifth Avenue gave me a new perspective on what motivates the luxury consumer and an appreciation for the craftsmanship and heritage of a luxury brand. During my time at Saks I was also a Brand Manager for Helmut Lang where I helped to refine the brand perception as it transitioned through a new creative strategy. Most recently as a Personal Stylist for Barneys New York, I got to see first hand how much the fashion industry is constantly changing. Having to adapt and evolve with new ways to reach a consumer, and pivot when necessary, has been an exciting change in my journey. Throughout my career, the draw for me has always been cultivating relationships and as I build a new path for myself I know this will continue to be at the core.
In my spare time, you can find me figuring out how I want to define the term influencer for myself, making videos for Instagram (and now TikTok), sussing out the newest restaurants, searching for a French macaron or exploring new wines.
