I’m Telling Everyone To Buy Skims - Here’s Why

Being a personal stylist for so long I know the importance of shapewear but in my own wardrobe I didn't really have much. Fast forward to September 2019 when I was working at Barneys and Skims launched. I decided to purchase a pair of shorts to wear under a fitted dress for a friend's upcoming wedding. I didn't know what to expect but the price seemed right and I do love a Kardashian business venture (Good American produces some of the best denim I own), so I logged on at 12:00 on the dot and somehow snagged a pair of these sculpting shorts before they sold out.
It Smooths You Out In All the Right Places
The day of the wedding comes and when I tell you these are game changing I'm not kidding. I wore the same dress to a wedding earlier in the year (pre Skims) and the difference is noticeable. When you look at the shorts before putting them on it looks like children's clothing but I promise the stretch is incredible. Not only are they somehow comfortable but they work. There was no digging into my waist, no rolling up from the leg, no lines through the dress. They just smooth you out in all the right places so that your dress lays perfectly on top. Different collections have different levels of support so you can choose the type that works best for your body. I have since purchased another pair of shorts but in the shorter version and in a size up (hi covid), 2 bras, bodysuits, and some thongs. The quality is honestly great, and I am a picky customer
The Neutral Color Palette is Perfect
Then all of the lounge wear drops and I swear I wanted everything. Kim knows her way around a neutral palette and the colors are perfection. I ended up trying out a pair of the cotton rib leggings and matching bodysuit in the color garnet during their summer sale and got 50% off. I knew it would be final sale and I read a bunch of reviews (which is a huge plus to the website) but just went for it. I was worried about the length as I am only 5’1’’ but it fits so well. This fabric is soft, and the pants are super high-waisted, which is a necessity for me, and the length somehow goes right to my ankle. The body suit is just as comfortable and soft and the set together just makes me feel good. I love a matching set in loungewear, sleepwear, athletic wear, formal wear...anywhere! So these collections are something I want to be in everyday.
I would definitely recommend giving the brand a try. The fits everybody collection is my favorite for basics (underwear, bras). For shapewear and sculpting I like the sculpting shortie, the core control thong, the sculpting short mid-thigh, and the sculpting body suit mid thigh. For lounge wear I have my eye on the cozy collection and more of the cotton ribbed pieces.

Don’t be discouraged if something is sold out - they restock pretty often. I have put my email in for an in-stock notification multiple times and have been able to get the pieces I want. It also helps to get on the website a few minutes before a new launch (check Instagram).
